KEF R50 Dolby Enabled Atmos speakers

The KEF R50 represent the premium end of the Dolby-Enabled speaker market. The high gloss speakers are a part of KEF’s R Series line, and have an equivalent Uni-Q beginning driver array.

A 25mm aluminium vented-tweeter and ‘tangerine waveguide’ sits at the center of a rigid 130mm bass/mid driver, encircled by a particular Z-flex surround to minimize distortion.

If you would like the full-fat KEF 5.1.2 Atmos experience, partner the R50s with a pair of R500 floor standers, matching R200c center channel, R100 bookshelves and therefore the compact R400b sub-woofer.

This ensemble sounds sensational. Alternatively, you'll use them to reinforce an existing loudspeaker .

A full-range design, the R50 is capable of superb clarity and depth, with the Dolby Atmos sound-stage spacious and naturalistic. They’re also extremely effective when it involves dispersion.

While some Atmos speakers have a selected ceiling bounce, which creates a sonic sweet spot, the R50s deliver a superb sense of height up to 3.5m away. Expensive certainly, but sensationally good.

Atmos-enabled modules intentionally limit low-frequency response to avoid sub-bass and lower-bass sounds leaking into the space , since those frequencies tend to be less directional.

That's important because the success behind this alternative approach depends on having the ability to accurately beam the sound toward the ceiling in order that it reflects off and reaches the listening position from above just because it would from traditional in-ceiling speakers. Therefore, the lower frequencies are instead directed to your system's sub-woofer by your Dolby Atmos capable AV receiver or processor.
